Connecting a seismic vocal range to crowd-pleasing charisma,

Australian-based recording artist Tony Sergi channels classic R&B

influences into a modern pop palette. Center stage with a

powerhouse band, he is a young man with an old soul and an

extraordinary voice.

Since age six, music has been Tony’s life. “They let me on stage,

and I never stopped,” he laughs. He has performed with high-

profile artists like Jimmy Barnes and Samantha Jade, toured

internationally, appeared for audiences of 80K plus at sporting

events, and provided pre show entertainment for Bruno Mars and

Ed Sheeran concerts. He says massive audiences don’t faze him.

“The nerves really help. It’s just getting out there and getting the

job done.”

Growing up with an Italian/Australian heritage, he shared music

with his extended family. “We love to get together and party,” he

notes. In addition to singing pop music, he studied and performed

in musical theatre. “I took more of the performance qualities, rather

than the sound,” he remembers. “You have to learn how to handle

yourself in production environments. It’s a big picture that definitely

pulls you away from the solo mentality.”

Headlining cabarets while still a young teen, Tony emulated the

polished artistry of classic male interpreters. “I was labeled as the

old school Sinatra guy,” he recalls. As he began writing his own

songs, rougher modern edges surfaced, and he discovered a

soaring falsetto range that he utilises for a striking vocal contrast.

As a collaborative songwriter, his voice is his primary instrument.

Tony has written and recorded in Los Angeles with songwriter and

producer Matt Beckley, in a studio that had recently hosted Camila

Cabello and 5 Seconds of Summer. “Matt told me, ‘I don’t care ifyou can’t sing for three months. We’re going to get this vocal take.’

That was a massive eye opener -- and we nailed it,” He

remembers.

Tony expanded his artistry during a lockdown year. He wrote

songs, connected through social media, and communicated

through a series of vibrant videos. The rollicking club set in the

video for his single “Your Heart Has to Go,” is actually his house.

“My videographer has lights that can change a billion colours. He lit

it up like the 4th of July, and we turned that place into a party.”

Describing himself as fun, energetic and “sometimes a bit crazy,”

Tony relishes the adventures of his rapidly ascending career. “I’ve

been ready for this since I was six years old,” he avows. “What you

see is what you get. There’s no reason to beat around the bush. I

let the music speak for itself. Push me out of the comfort zone, and

hopefully I will give you gold.”
