The Holding Pattern put their own stamp on some of the great blues styles – from Bessie Smith and the gospel feel of Reverend Gary Davis in the 1920s through to Mavis Staples; the steamy swampy blues of Tony Joe White and Eric Burdon, the great story telling groove blues of Howlin’ Wolf, R.L. Burnside and Tom Waits; and to contemporaries like Larkin Poe and Buffy.

The Holding Pattern plays more eclectic groove-driven ‘blues’ music originals and covers from across the decades.
The Holding Pattern presents music originating from traditional plantation work chants, dusty juke joints, to the cities and steamy swamps. Think of it as a funky mix of delta / swampy / gospel blues styles.
