Sumaya Harare

Arriving in Melbourne, Australia from Kenya at the age of 7 with no English, my family and I were settled into a predominantly white neighbourhood where I was sent to the local primary school. With no support apart from 45min/a week ESL class, I was expected to keep up with my peers.

Through my keynote, I take students on a visual journey where they experience the loneliness, bullying and ostracisation 7yr old me went through. I show them how it only takes one person to make a world of a difference in someone's life and teach them the resilience it takes to navigate adversity.
