2013.
I didn’t want to live. Diagnosed with PTSD, depression and anxiety, I felt indescribable mental pain. An involuntary patient in a psych clinic, I had no self-worth. I hated myself. I was devoid of happiness and joy. I was my PTSD.
2026.
I like myself. I’m working on learning to love myself again. I want to live. I work full-time, co-founded a charity supporting first responders, enjoy life and feel joy. My conditions no longer define me , I co-exist with them.
I work with organisations to show their people that recovering from, and living well with, mental health conditions is not only possible, it’s how you grow and thrive after the darkest places.
Real. Honest. Practical.

These are the categories of entertainment or other services offered by From pain to purpose, thriving after PTSD, depression and anxiety.
Mark is a grounded and authentic speaker who has turned significant personal trauma into a clear message of hope and practical recovery. Despite losing his mother to cancer at the age of eight and being hospitalised with PTSD, depression and anxiety in 2013, he remains determined that these experiences will not define him. He also currently lives with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and the lessons and strategies he developed through his mental health recovery continue to help him manage and cope with CFS day to day.
Audiences can expect a passionate, raw and honest presentation delivered with genuine positivity and real-world insight. Mark shows that recovery is possible — and that people can learn to co-exist with, and even grow from, ongoing mental and physical health challenges.
Sam Higgins wrote, "Mark is a phenomenal speaker the way in which he was able to convey a range of extremely important messages whilst captivating the audience was something that I have not seen done in such a masterful way in a long time - Mark you’re a credit to yourself thank you for sharing your story".
A PowerPoint facility is a requirement that Mark would very much like, but it is not integral. Due to Mark's mental injuries, he has issues with concentration, hence the PowerPoint requirement but as indicated, if none available, Mark will adapt.
No songs but topics covered are PTSD, depression, anxiety, recovery, treatment, how Mark stays healthy and other important topics that are integral to remaining healthy.
