Puppet Shows for Festivals, Child Care Centres, Shopping Centres, Schools, Parties, Libraries, Corporates, etc. | Puppet MC | Puppetry Workshops | Puppetry for Film, Television and Theatre | Based in the Moreton Bay region. Performs all over South-East QLD, Central QLD and Northern NSW. Lifetime of experience. Formal training in the USA by Jim Henson puppeteers from Sesame Street and The Muppets!
Suitable for the whole family, the puppet show is a zany and colourful 30 minutes of songs, games, jokes, skits and comical interaction with the audience. The style of puppetry is like The Muppets and Sesame Street. The show is interactive and live, and includes some volunteers from the audience in a couple of segments. The show is followed by an additional 5 minute demonstration at the end on how the puppets work, and a 10 minute meet and greet, where people have an opportunity to take a photo or a selfie with “Troggg” or one of the other puppet stars. Total duration: 45 minutes.
Elissa and Brett teach puppetry performance for beginners. We don't teach the building/craft side. Just the performance side. We bring along 40 workshop puppets for students to practice with in the class. We teach lip sync, eye focus, walking, arm movement, voices, etc. Puppetry is great for building confidence, improving communication and making people laugh. It's amazing to see how puppets can help shy, reserved people come out of their shell. The workshop begins with a short demonstration puppet show before we start teaching the techniques. Total duration: 1 hour.
We strongly recommend that all communication with Larrikin Puppets be kept within CrowdPleaser's secure quoting and booking platform. We can only guarantee deposits paid through the CrowdPleaser website. You should also make sure their quote includes their cancellation and payment terms.
1 hour prior to the show or workshop starting time, we arrive to set-up the puppet stage, sound equipment, props and puppets. Then a 40 minute pack-down afterwards, making the total visiting time between 2 hours and 2 hours, 45 minutes. At most events we require a powerpoint, as our larger PA speakers are electrical, as are the receivers for our wireless headset mics. For smaller birthday party events held outdoors, we do have a smaller battery operated amp and a wired microphone. The cost also takes into consideration travel time to and from the event.
For larger festivals and corporate events, we would require:
- Connection to your amplification.
- 2 wireless headset microphones.
- 1 D.I. box (direct input unit) to connect iPhone to mixing desk. Because our show is live and interactive with the audience, rather than using a sound technician queuing music for us, we control our music and sound effects ourselves from behind the puppet stage using an iPhone.
It usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour to set up our puppet stage, props, puppets and sound equipment. It’s a portable puppet stage with an overall height of 1.8 metres, and an overall length of 2.4 metres. We require about two metres behind it to lay out the puppets, props, and ourselves (between one and two people) for performing.
Our general comedy variety puppet show features such segments as Freerange the Chicken clucking a song at the beginning, Troggg the blue monster singing a duet with a cheesecake, Frazzamatazz trying to convince Flossy that he has a spectacular act to share with the audience. There are jokes, songs and games, including one with flash cards at shows for smaller kids. Often parents tell us what their children's favourite songs and nursery rhymes are, which we can incorporate into the puppet show. Teachers sometimes ask for a show with themed educational material such as healthy eating, anti bullying, and looking after the environment.
Birthday parties, engagement parties, anniversary parties, Christmas parties, Easter parties, wedding receptions, childcare centres, schools, festivals, puppetry workshops, puppetry training for film, television and theatre, puppetry performance for film, television and theatre, puppet MC work (Troggg the blue monster as the emcee at film screenings, product launches, corporate events, etc.)
Larrikin Puppets have performed at such public events as the Woodford Folk Festival, the Ipswich Festival, The Puppetry Arts Festival of Brooklyn (New York, USA), the Bundaberg Pageant of Lights, the Mary Poppins Festival in Maryborough, the Redcliffe Sails Festival, the Goodna Jacaranda Festival, the Darra Street Festival, the Brisbane Zombie Walk (RNA Showgrounds), Little Days Out at South Bank, The Hills Carnivale (Ferny Hills), The Moorooka Festival, the West End Festival, the Chrome Street Fiesta (Salisbury), the Racecourse Road Community Christmas (Hamilton), Caboolture Christmas Carols, open days, school fetes, church fetes and more.
